Description
The story follows Dr. Charlotte “Charly” McKenna, who seemingly had it all: a thriving career, a luxury apartment overlooking Central Park, and a handsome lawyer husband. However, her life takes a dark turn one evening when a bullet rips through the right side of her skull, leaving her with life-altering brain injuries.
The novel alternates between “Before” and “After” timelines. In the present, Charly is in a rehabilitation hospital, struggling with physical paralysis, left-side visual neglect, and profound memory loss. As she works through an arduous recovery, she realizes that the key to her survival—the identity of her shooter—is locked within the damaged parts of her brain.
While dealing with the betrayal of her husband and the challenges of her new reality, Charly must navigate a maze of missing memories. The tension builds as she begins to remember clues that suggest her attack was not a random break-in, but a premeditated attempt on her life by someone she may have known.
